$WIX stockholder filed a claim against Wix.com for overstating the competitiveness and performance of its AI-powered products against competitors while understating the costs of developing and promoting them.
After Wix disclosed a sharp margin decline and acknowledged its new Wix Harmony platform had "holes" and "missing capabilities" as professional developers turned to competing AI tools, $WIX fell 27.1% on May 13, 2026.
$WIX investors can join this case to be notified about potential recovery.
Between February 19, 2025 and May 12, 2026, Wix told investors that its AI-powered tools — including its Wixel design platform, the Base44 "vibe coding" acquisition, and its new Wix Harmony site builder — gave it an industry-leading competitive edge. Executives repeatedly described "robust" demand, forecast accelerating bookings and revenue growth in the back half of each year, and said Base44 would reach margins comparable to Wix's core business over time.
However, during this period, investors allege Wix overstated how its AI products actually performed against competing offerings and understated what it was spending to develop and promote them.
Wix allegedly failed to disclose that its costs — particularly AI compute and marketing spend tied to Base44 — were accelerating at an alarming rate, that competing AI tools were increasingly outpacing Wix's own products, and that, as a result, the commercial and financial benefits Wix touted for its AI offerings were overstated.
Then, on May 21, 2025, Wix maintained conservative full-year revenue guidance despite reporting a 12% increase in bookings, disappointing investors, and $WIX fell 16.2%.
Additional revelations followed on November 19, 2025, when Wix disclosed that rising post-acquisition costs to support Base44 were materially hurting its financial results, sending $WIX down nearly 20%; and across late March and early April 2026, when JPMorgan, UBS, and Citizens each downgraded the stock, citing decelerating core revenue growth, slower and more volatile margin expansion, and rising competition from AI coding tools, driving a combined decline of roughly 15% over three separate sessions.
Finally, on May 13, 2026, Wix reported first-quarter 2026 earnings and revenue below expectations and a sharp decline in operating margins tied to softness in its professional developer business.
On the earnings call, executives acknowledged that professional developers were turning to competing AI tools, that Wix Harmony had "holes" and "missing capabilities," and that delays in delivering product updates had left the Company behind the needs of professional developers. $WIX fell 27.1%, closing at $55.32 per share.
Based on these events, $WIX investors filed a claim against Wix, alleging the company:
It overstated the competitiveness and performance of its AI product offerings relative to competitors.
It understated the costs of developing and promoting its AI products, including Base44 and Wix Harmony.
It caused investor losses when weak guidance, rising costs, and product shortcomings were disclosed.
Investors argue Wix misled the market about its AI leadership and the costs of sustaining it, causing losses when the truth emerged.
